The movers arrived this morning as I was scrambling to pack my last few boxes after only four hours of sleep (yes, I like to wait until the last minute... but things always get done). Luckily, the rain held off while we loaded the moving truck.
Then Leah (my sister) and I set off in a 14-foot Uhaul moving truck... cruzin' down the yellow brick road (Brooklyn-Queens Expressway) over the Verrazano Bridge into lovely Staten Island and then into the Garden State - New Jersey (this is when we rolled the windows up... smelly. And I'm not sure why it's called the Garden State - no poppy fields or Emerald City).
I successfully drove the moving truck 300 miles to DC (at one point going 25 mph in heavy rain). And I was thankful to have my sister with me to keep me company and be the DJ/navigator.

After putting everything into storage, we went to Kramers in Dupont Circle for dinner and a celebratory beer (or two). In the few hours I've been here, I get the feeling that I'm going to like living in DC. I think the little girl who grew up in Alabama is happy to be closer to the South, nature, and friendly people. Yup, I think I'm going to like it here...
