The Argentinian Ballet Comes to Arequipa

Last night I went to the Argentinian Ballet at the Fenix Theatre with Sandra, her friend, and her friend´s mother. The Fenix Theatre was built in 1825 and is made mostly of sillar (white volcano rock) as is most of the historic part of town (thus Arequipa´s name of "The White City"). It is not a beautiful theatre, but you can see the antiqueness.

The show started at 8pm and we had box seats to the right of the stage. The show began with classical ballet.

After intermission, the performance changed to a mixture of ballet and tango. Although the classical ballet dances were beautiful and moving, I enjoyed the 2nd half of the show more with the tango music and dance moves.

... A preview of what´s to come in Argentina in August...
